I am running the RC of Windows 7 x64 in a dual boot config with Ubuntu and am very happy that Microsoft has after that junk known as windows 3.1, win95, 98, ME, 2K, xp AND VISTA has released an operating system that is as genius as windows 3.0 was back in the day.
I have used each OS and usually after a week or two gave it away and went back to a Linux OS. But I have been running Win 7 RC since it came out and am happy with it.
I reloaded the crap that was Vista back on the laptop it came with and then was going to put the RC over it so I would have my drivers, then I said no and went to HP’s website and got all the drivers for my laptop they had for Vista x64 and stripped them from the packaging before installing 7 fresh and have been using it since.
I just hope that either the doctors release me to go back to work soon or the WC insurance people give me some money so I can get the full release before my time with the RC runs out. I think three years is long enough not having any money.
But any way from what I have seen with windows 7 you can’t go wrong with getting it as it is loads better than the others and in my opinion works as good as my Linux OS’s have.
It is the first Windows OS that I will say is any good since Windows 3.0 back in the age of boat anchor pc’s and those huge 20-50MB HDD’s we had.
All I can say is congrats Microsoft you finally upgraded Windows 3.0 and it only took you 20 or so years to do it.
