Windows 7 with PCIe Raid Controller is slower than Vista

I have an application specific Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 disk intensive benchmark.

I have run it repeatedly under identical configurations.

Under Vista 64 it takes about 3.5 seconds, under Windows 7 RC it takes about 6 seconds.

By contrast when I run a synthetic benchmark like HDtach the burst rate under Windows 7 is appreciably higher than under Vista 64.

Since both the graphics card and the (Areca) RAID controller are sharing the bus I have tried 4 different graphic cards with several different driver versions.

My last trial I reversed the card into the other PCIe slots all to no help.

Under XP Pro 32-bit it also takes ~6 seconds. Under CPU intensive benchmarking Windows 7 is faster than Vista 64 and XP Pro 32-bit
