Windows 7 Update problems

Brand spanking new Sony Vaio VGN-Z73FB with windows 7 pre-installed.

I cant update Windows 7 using the windows update manager in the start menu.

It shows i need 4 new files and right when its about to finish installing them, i get 2 errors, one is 646 and the other is an 0x800...something, this is also causing me to not be able to download many things for example itunes, powerpoint viewer, and other windows files to try and fix it, ive been on the microsoft website and couldnt seem to find anything that worked.

anybody else had this problem, or some help please?
