Windows 7 Rocks compared to my early experience with Windows Vista

by Duraid Ayoubi

Windows 7 is in a much a better position compared to my early Vista Ultimate edition experience.

Windows Vista was a big mistake - the same mistake Microsoft made with Windows 98 and Windows ME. Remember that one ?

If you are going to experiment, please do so, but not at a premium price.

I was an early adopter of Vista (I bought it the day after it's release in Australia). I upgraded my PC at the time thinking new hardware and more RAM will set me up for the future.

Wrong! I was mad as; as we say in Australia as mad as a cut up snake! I ended up shelfing Vista Ultimate for 6 months after paying ($A750.00).

Reason - i could not boot my PC with Vista and my new Creative XFI ExtremeMusic card.

At the time i also paid $A250.00 for the Creative XFI, plus my Logitech Z5500D 5.1 Speakers which cost me $A420.00, plus other hard pieces i bought at the time of this upgrade.

Now with Windows 7 RC1, i did the same, and long and behold it all works!

The install worked like clockwork, IE8 rocks, much faster then Firefox 3, and driver availability looks very promising from vendors like Creative (i don't think Creative & Microsoft get on all that well - do they ?).

Very dissapointing indeed.

My final request to Microsoft is very simple - please make Windows 7 affordable to all walks of life.

Thank you for Windows 7 RC1 - like my Logitech Z5500D speakers it rocks!
