Windows 7 freezing problem

Hey,

I bought a new Acer X1300 desktop in september with vista and it was great.

In November I received my free upgrade to windows 7.

Everything was good but every now and then, and randomly, the computer will freeze and the screen goes a similar color to that of the background before the freeze.

Example, if I'm working on a word document, the screen will go a solid off white color.

The only way to get everything to function again is to hold the power button and restart the computer.

It has become very annoying and I've tried reinstalling the windows 7 program and reformating, but today its been doing that again. Any suggestions would help. I'm running out of options.

I have an Acer desktop Aspire 1300 with windows 7 32 bit.
