ethernet driver screw up
by: Anonymous

I've had the release version of windows 7 on my hp laptop for a while and never had a problem yet.

I then installed Win7 on my dad's computer which was fast and trouble free.

** I then went upstairs to install Win7 on my Mom's older computer and Bang !! can't see or identify the onboard ethernet. I don't get it... We are a few minutes away from being in 2010....! Microsoft have been in business for a while...! GUYS Wake up smell the coffee... why doesn't the Windows 7 Dvd not have at least the Ethernet drivers for all computers. WOW I am not impressed with that one but not one bit.

Well good luck all, I will be spending the begining of 2010 looking for a driver on the web.

Happy New Years

Windows 7 ethernet drivers: Weird
by: billfranke

Weird! I just bought my stepmother (she's 85 and computer illiterate, by the way) a new PC a week ago. I first loaded XP Pro and it worked, but when I tried to install the motherboard drivers, everything froze. I got tired of trying to repair the installation, so I loaded Win 7 RC1. Every driver I needed was installed as a matter of course. I didn't have to install anything at all. The entire installation took less than 30 minutes, and Win 7 has been working perfectly for the past week. Windows 7 ethernet drivers were not required because they had already been installed along with the OS and all the other drivers. You must have an old motherboard or an exotic NIC.

Not only that, my stepmother hasn't had a single problem understanding how to use the Win 7 OS. I gave her one quick lesson, and she's figured everything else out for herself. She had lots of problems with XP Pro and Mac OSX.

I'm totally impressed with Windows 7. I liked it before on my Eee PC -- had no problems with any drivers on that one either -- but I really really like it on a powerful desktop.
