Please specify what drivers
by: Steve Silverwood

It will help to know what drivers Windows 7 is requesting. If you can't install the OS at all, I'm not sure what to tell you. If you are just getting some prompts post-installation indicating that some drivers are needed, you can:

1) Go to the website for the manufacturers of each device for which drivers are being requested. With the 64-bit version of Windows, you NEED to use 64-bit drivers. 32-bit drivers won't really cut it.

2) Go into Device Manager and look for the little triangle-with-! warnings to see what drivers are needed. Frequently you can just right-click on each item and select "Update driver software" from the context menu, which lets Windows Update go out and try to locate the appropriate drivers for you.

#2 is also a helpful option even if you DON'T get a driver warning. When I did a clean installation of Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit, either one), I only had a couple of items for which drivers were needed, but I went through each device and did this procedure, which often picked up updated drivers that I didn't even know were out there.
