HP Software & Drivers page for DV6-1340ED
by: Joleca

Ok Henk, here goes:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=4062&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=4043684

This is the page for Windows 7 32-bit for your computer... "Help and Support" has been replaced by the "HP Support Assistant" and "HP Advisor" plus you can download any of the other HP software you'd like that was originally on your computer..

Since these are all 32-bit versions of the software, they should work better than if you tried to re-install the original 64-bit versions on a 32-bit system. All of the drivers and software that were originally on your computer should be available to download and re-install.

URL for HP Support
by: Joleca

Henk,

Without know the model number of your computer, I can't get you the specific link. I can give you the link for the starting page for software and driver downloads and you'll need to input your model number to get to the downloads you need..

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html?pageDisplay=drivers

or, list your model number and I'll get you a link for the exact page... (example, the model number for my laptop is tx2510us)

Re-Installing original HP programs
by: Joleca

You can get the original HP programs that came with your computer from the HP website..

Go to Help and Support for your computer model and go to the Software and Drivers page.. Select the operating system (hopefully they'll list 32-bit for your computer) and then download whatever programs you want to re-install.... including the HP Help and Support programs

response to big John

Thank you John for your comment.
I made, before doing anything, 3 DVD's which should contain everything which was originally on my notebook. I think with this I can go back to 64 bits but then I loose everything I have installed already and I don't want to have a 64 bits system.
I am missing the HP Help and Support programs.
I would make a selective restore without a harddisk format such that I can keep my 32 bits system and get the HP files back.

Restore your system.
by: BigJohn

1st. !!!
Read the owners manual.
You already made your restore disks as soon as you started the unit the first time. The disk is bootable and will allow access to your hidden partition, usually D:/ drive. That will put you back to just as it was when you unpacked it.
Then all you do is copy your files or reinstall from their disks.
If you proceed as outlined in the manual, you will be as good as new.
(I hope you did not format the HD when you were messing around with the 32 bit OS)
