Common Problem
by: Anonymous

The cause: Capitalism in knowledge
The solutions: Either become tech-savy or find someone who is (nephew, son, friend, etc...)

Don't blame the company. Put yourself in their place. Would you pay your employees to provide a service for a product you did not sell? At a Mom & Pop business magnitude, you could probably take this customer service approach and not loose much. At a Dell size business, you are talking about millions of dollars lost per month.

Play with your computer, re-format the drive, install drivers, programs, and periferals. It will save you money in the long run.

BTW, I just bought a new Inspiron in Dec2009 and received outstanding customer service from DELL to show me how to get rid of the partitions and re-format the drive even after recommending me not to.

Win 7 & the Wireless Modem
by: Anonymous

I bought a new HP PC w/Vista, which I later upgraded with Win 7. I bought a linksys wireless router to hook to the modem my ISP provided for connecting to the internet. Router came w/Network Magic (trial) which allowed me to hook to the internet, my wife's laptop, and share my printer. I struggled on my own to network, but putting Network Magic on each computer, it was done in ten minutes. If I decide not to stay with Network Magic, Win 7 has programs to network all of it, though I haven't tried them yet.

Oh My!
by: destined2bbless

Oh my that is a shame. I too had difficulty with Dell! I have a Dell Inspiron 530, Windows Ultimate, I changed from Ultimate to Windows 7 Professional, had some problems with the display, after many attempts I contacted Dell to assist me. I was informed that I did not purchase the Windows 7 Professional from Dell they could not help me, I had to purchase tech support for this issue. Come on! No where does Dell stipulate that any software must be purchased through Dell exclusively! I've been a faithful customer of Dell for years, I very disappointed! Hope you get your problem solved!
