It would appear MicroSoft may have finally got it right. HP Dv6105ca using Windows XP decided that the DVD/CD drive was no longer a DVD and repeated attempts to get help from HP were not successful.

So I downloaded Windows 7 to a new 150G HD and was amazed to find the install went without a problem and all the required board drivers were installed as well.

The laptop is responding faster and all my re-installed progams work. This has not happened to me since Windows 95.

The only complaint is when shutting down I get a screen for a few saconds saying Windows LogOn is still running, then the Loging Off screen comes on and the shutdown completes,

Congratulations
Ted Baker
