Speech Recognition could be better

Whilst I have found speech recognition within windows 7 to be pretty decent it could be greatly improved to enhance usability for some of the internal applications such as windows media centre.
Speech recognition is a fantastic way to control windows media centre unfortunately there are some niggles which I have found when using it.
For example: when controlling music playback this is quite difficult because the control symbols are not in view when you're not using the mouse(the voice part only works when visible).
It would also be great if you could just ask the program to go to the artist you want for example by saying "go to the artist (whatever)".
However what I have found is really great is the ability to say go to track by name within the list, and in most cases it is perfect as long as the titles are not too similar.
I'd love to to be able to say right from the start, for example: play artist Michael Jackson or U2 or whichever artist I fancied at the time and I wanted to hear.
I'm sure there is party software out there which can but microsoft has got it so close to be really decent.
