Windows 7 User Submissions

So Far So Good

First off, I have been a dedicated XP user for years and only recently had experience with Vista in the form of a laptop I bought.

I liked XP because the UI was much more friendly, there were very few compatibility issues, and it was less "bloated" than Vista. XP gave me better performance for gaming, web surfing, playing and editing videos/music, etc.

With Vista I noticed it slowed any system down because of the resources it needed. Now with 7, well I've actually noticed my systems use their hardware more efficiently. But keep in mind I'm using the 64 bit version.

I've used 7 in both a desktop and laptop and so far the only problems I've had was a few headache moments finding drivers. But let's face it the OS is not even released yet, and I am using 64 bit, so no wonder there would be a few hiccups.

After finding drivers, and adding a little memory do the desktop, I've put 7 through every test I could think of. Gaming, file moving/copying, audio/video encoding, etc., as well as seeing how friendly the UI is, and so far I would swear both systems are running faster than before.

7 is user friendly enough for anyone to be able to use it but a few things like finding the downloads folder took a bit of looking, there could be more links on the start menu.

I've had a few compatibility issues, but they were so few, and the fact of the OS being an RC as well as 64 bit, that I'm not complaining.

Once 7 is finalized, and proper drivers are made for it, I believe it will make up for anguish we suffered with Vista.
