Dislpay/ Monitor or KVM switch all have to keep feeding EDID to Windows 7 by: ConnectPRO Rex
According to the Display guideline for KVM switch in Windows 7, Windows 7 does request the EDID information and communication between connected monitor and Windows 7 systems keep "alive" even when users using KVM switches.
Please refer to Windows 7's official link about this issue: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/display/KVM-Win7.mspx
If you're using the KVM switch and having the video issues, then You need replace the KVM switch with KVM switches which support "Full-time" active DDC/ EDID communication.

Same problem by: Anonymous
I have my monitor connected using a kvm switch. I am going home today and removing the connection and just plug the monitor directly into the video card and see if that is the issue.
I noticed after rebooting it logged into Windows, but the display froze up, screen looked jagged, and after multiple power off and on, and reinstalls, I am going to do what I said above. I have all the required hardware, so I am not sure what the problem is other then maybe the kvm switch.
