Am running 64x ultimate of vista and 7 and although drivers were an issue initially with vista, I had very few problems.

My motherboard was the main one Gigabytes GA-M57SLi-S4 rev 1 and 2.

Every time i installed vista it was a major operation...freezing,stopping...30 odd times I would try then for no reason it would install.

initially i was told i had too much mem for the install 8gig and i duly reduced to 2 then 1 gig...no difference.

after swapping various components and trying it on my GA M55 board which install no prob...i thought the mb was u/s.

i bought the rev 2 one but it did same...new cpu was installed...mem,hdd,rom, the lot no difference!!! gigs reliably informed me their board was fine with o/s...to cut a long story short i put up with long install and after updating to sp1 and putting rest of mem in it ran very well.

Ive installed it on my 55 mb and both run excellently. Windows 7 on the otherhand installs perfectly every time...I can't fault it much at all...some drivers arent up to the job...creative's mainly...but i found the vista one runs perfectly on 7.

still creative's vista drivers weren't very good to start with. I will be buying 7 ultimate when it releases, I think both o/s have been very good when vista sp1 came out, i think people didnt give vista a chance and microsoft should have waited til it was 'finished' before releasing it.

still it looks like theyve learned from their mistakes...lets hope they let people enjoy it for a while before they rush out yet another o/s.
