Installed the 64bit version on my laptop and desktop. Smooth as silk on my HP dv7-1135nr 4GB RAM / 2GHz AMD Turion X2 laptop.
It had Vista Home x64 previously. It was like a hot knife through butter. However, my desktop install was a little bumpy.
Motherboard is a Foxconn 6150bk8mc with onboard legacy nForce 430/GeForce 6150B chipset/GPU. It has 2 GB RAM / 2.4GHz AMD Athlon.
I received a BSOD Stop Error 0x1E caused by nvlddmkm.sys during Windows 7 RC setup 100% of the time during the install.
But found a work around on the Win7 Forums and replaced the nvlddmkm.sys with the latest one from nVidia during the install using a DOS Shell.
I have had no issues on my laptop. Desktop hiccups a couple times each day when running 3 or more apps.
Also, my desktop is connected to a Linksys WET54GS5 wireless bridge/switch to a D-Link DIR-625 router. My laptop has built-in WiFi.
The desktop homegroup does not work via the wireless bridge. But when I connect my laptop to the switch via ethernet, homegroup works fine. Aside from that, everythng else seems in order.
This is by far better than the original Vista OS.
