Windows 7 User Submissions

Power User/Enthusiast

I have yet to try out Win 7 however I have done some fairly extensive reading on this OS from some of the most respected people in the business and it appears to me that Win 7 will be a major advancement for Microsoft.

I believe that Microsoft has attempted to do some wise things with this OS like, reduce operating overhead to lessen resource and raw PC power requirements, enhancements to the underlying core to aliviate slow performance and error occurance (BSOD), tighter integration of OS system components for more trouble free configuration, and an overall much needed face lift that should provide for a very satisfying user experience.

I am an old school PC user who started computing with Dos Ver. 3 and have upgraded and mastered every Microsoft OS since then and I can tell you that todays computing is light years ahead of were it once started.

Yes problems still arise but overall computing has become very simple with all the advancement in OS's.

I do alot of PC repair for friends and associates, most of whom do not share the same passion for computing that I have, and have done so for the past 20 + years and I can tell you that most of the time when problems arise it is the fault of the user rather than the OS.

Even poorly written applications that exhibit errant behavior are often to blame for OS problems for the end user and that user usually blames the OS for this as well.

I for one am anxiously awaiting the official release of Win 7 and plan a full upgrade of my small home network to it.

I believe that it will solve several issues I now have with media streaming, video editing/conversion, and networking.

Only time will ultimately tell if I am right about that but all indications so far say it will be so.

For those of you who are sticking with XP/VISTA I predict that you will all upgrade to Win 7 within 1 year if not out of want, out of necessity as support for these earlier OS's will drop dramatically in that 1 year!
