No speakers or headphones are plugged in
by: Al

I have exactly the same problem. One minute the sound was working fine the next - nothing. At first I got the message 'no audio device enabled'. I went into the BIOS & made sure the integrated sound card was enabled. This fixed the problem for about a day. Since then I get the message, 'no speakers or headphones are plugged in'. The sound card is enabled in the BIOS, I've downloaded the latest sound drivers, I've installed a registry repair program. Nothing works. The computer doesn't even recognise that the speakers exist. Then all of a sudden I'll turn the computer on & there they are, working fine. Then I turn computer off & back on & no speakers again. Is this maybe a program compatibility issue?
