I would frankly say that it would be better to go with Windows XP due to lack of proper support in Windows 7 (64bit).
I am not able to play my favourite games and applications in this OS which makes my new laptop worth nothing more than a dollar (Imagine a Sony VAIO laptop bought for almost 1000USD not capable of running a game).
