Missing Hard Drive Space after Windows 7 Custom Install
by Joleca

Upgraded a Toshiba laptop running Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Professional (so needed to do a "custom install" instead of direct upgrade).
Used Laplink's "PC Mover Windows 7 Upgrade Assistant" so as to not have to re-install and re-configure all the existing programs and settings..
Had PC mover "move" all the files/data instead of copying back so as to save drive space (according to the program).
Everything seems to be working fine, but the laptop has a 200GB drive and before Windows 7, I still had 116GB free space..
After Windows 7, I had ONLY "37"GB of free space left... I ran disk cleanup and deleted all the temporary files, all the old restore points and shadow copies, ran a "junk file" cleaner and after all that, still only have 50.1GB available free space on the drive..
Somewhere seems as if I've lost almost 70GB of free space (approx 1/3 of the entire drive).
If I check the properties for all of the folders (including the "hidden" ones) on the C: drive, the total sized added up is about 65GB... so doesn't account for the missing drive space.
Any ideas????
Thanks.
