Here’s one for you… Move the “My Documents” folder to another drive and tell it not to copy your documents.
Open your user account…
Right click on “My Documents”
select Properties then Location
Enter the new path…
(Old location: C:usersMyNameDocuments
New Location: D:Documents )
Now click Move…
Do you want to create the directory… Yes
Do you want to copy existing files … No
50/50 chance you’ll get a “Server did not respond” error and you won’t be able to access your user account, folders or any explorer driven feature of windows.
There is a fix… but when an OS can be blown up by something this flat out simple, there is a major problem. This is a major flaw in the Windows Shell and Microsoft has known about it since Vista was first released.
That’s what I would call a “deal breaker”…
