LAN Connection Problems?!!!

I think it runs smoother and looks nicer, however it will not authenticate my internet connection through the ethernet adapter.

Wireless works fine. I've been seaching for updates for the past four days now.

It's not my NIC because it worked when I switched hard drives an ran Vista.

It keeps saying I don't have a valid IP configuration. Help is appreciated.
