KHG 10,000 works in vista!
by: Anonymous

kind of technical but...

I managed to get KHG to manually install (cd drive \ program \ after setting the compatibility tab on the install.exe to windows 98/me, the main installer on the cd doesn't work for me. also to get KHG to run normally it needs to also have its compatibility settings changed to windows 95 (c:\kgourmet\kgourmet.exe , right click on the file and select properties then compatibility tab) if it's set to anything else it will give off some sort of error when the program is closed...

Anyhow my mom's cook book loads up fine and displays the filenames of the books, (which it didn't on my xp machine)...

Hopefully this will also work with Windows 7.

Key Home Gourmet on Windows 7
by: Anonymous

I also have that old program and a new Windows 7 and at first it didn't show but jibberish but husband managed to transfer everything over.
So it is possible. Hopefully you have the old floppy disc or have downloaded all of the info on that. There are a number of items that come up and it is imbedded in one of them. Good luck!

Key Home Gourmet software
by: Anonymous

I had a big problem switching the program to my vista computer. I'm worried for the future. Am I not going to be able to save all my hard work. I think it's terrible they put software programs out there and you can't get backups for them.

Windows 7 problems
by: Anonymous

Found many things don't work as well on Windows 7 and is much slower than XP. My daughter says I should just go with a MAC. Guess Microsoft is just helping to push me that way.

Possible Home Key Gourmet fix
by: Joleca

Try the "Troubleshoot Compatibility" feature of Windows 7...

right-click on the executable file for the program (the ".exe" file) and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility"

You get 2 choices:

Use Recommended Settings

Troubleshoot Program

I'd pick "Troubleshoot Program"

Check all the boxes that apply (probably "worked in earlier versions" and "opens but doesn't display correctly").. wouldn't hurt to also check "requires additional permissions" if you want.

Click "Next" and select which Windows Version you were running the program under before (never hurts to just go for XP Service Pack 2 since it probably ran fine with that).

Click "Next" and check any of the display problems that apply to the program.

Click "Next" and then click "Start the program" to test the Troubleshooter settings.... If it works, click "Next" and accept the settings or if not, try a different setting..

You might be able to get the program to run this way.... hope this helps
