It's STILL illegal to steal!

If the company that developed an operating system didn't have to build in to the retail cost of the product the very real cost of the losses incurred by all the blatant thievery going on, the cost of the software WOULD be much more reasonable.
No point in carping about open source software here. It's a discussion of retail software licensing issues. Getting profane makes you sound like a vocabulary challenged moron.
Open source also has it's own different licensing issues by the way.
All the people who work at Microsoft have families to feed, at least their own individual grocery bill. It costs money to eat, so they are supposed to starve their employees to make the product cheaper. I don't think so.
If you stole your Windows 7, I hope you get a serious system crash because of it and lose all your files AND their backups (which you probably don't do, because that would be too much like work...).
My Windows 7 is a validly licensed paid for product, and yes I too could have a system crash, but it would be more satisfying to hear about the thief losing out big time.
