To install audio SUCCESSFULLY on you MX6455 Gateway - or any other similar machine after upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit...

Check out this link. I tried it and it worked after hours (ok weeks) of trying to tweak shizz... nearly gave up. I'm posting in a few places to make it easier for other people to find this.

There you can download and run a Realtek ac97 driver that (after a little tweak) will have you making noise and annoying the neighburs in 10 minutes ;-)

Gateway MX6455 now has sound.

Installed the driver above, (whch fails first time)

Found the new swsetup folder on C:, edited the file cp6308Ba.inf by adding just two lines to suit my hardware ID (device manager)

%*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD_DF,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_0300107B&REV_02
%*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_0300107B&REV_02

and saved the file... then ran the Setup64.exe file...

and now bob is my uncle.. chur bro!!!
