Hi:
I would look at the video driver first rather than an update of the bios. I have a Gateway MP-8708, core2 duo 7200 which came with Win XP Media Center Edition installed. I upgraded to Vista Ultimate with no problems and have now upgraded to Win7 Ultimate. No problems at all even though Gateway will not supply Win7 drivers for my machine, it doesn't appear that I need any new drivers or bios updates. Win 7 Ultimate is great, I think that they (MS)finally got something right.
