Gateway laptop with Windows 7

i have a gateway laptop i got windows 7 installed today, its slowing my comp down a lot i think and besides that i cant download aol to it for some reason so is it not compatible with it?

i download AOL the icon shows up but it will not open or start when i double click

I need to run aol and it wont let me can anyone tell me what i should do or if its just not compatible with windows 7?
