“file too large to transfer”

I downloaded an HD movie online, and tried to cut the file into my external hard drive. However, an error popped up, and said that this 7GB file was too large to be transfered…

In Windows XP and Vista, i can transfer files no matter how big they are.

Also, i have more than enough space in my hard drive.

I think it is something to do with the system; a minor error. Of course, if i break up the file into little ones,i will be able to transfer, but then again, it’s more effort lol.

What to do? Am I right? or can i easily fix this problem?
