Dell xps 8000 windows 7 mouse frozen

Uninstalled Kaspersky 2010 security software to install 2011 version. After uninstall windows 7 would not reboot. Had to reboot from last good boot up. Now mouse is frozen. Tried other mice, no luck. Can't install new Kaspersky software without clicking start button with a mouse click. Ideas anyone?
