I attempted to setup a Mirrored Volume on Windows 7 RC.

My primary drive (C:) and my mirrored drive (D:) are identical Western Digital 1TB hard SATAII hard drives.

I used Windows Disk Management to convert both drives to dynamic disks. Drive D: was dynamic and allocated.

I then right-clicked on Drive C: in Disk Management and selected ADD MIRROR.

I chose the D: drive as the mirror and it began to RESYNCH. Eventually the status of drive C: changed from online to error.

The event viewer said that the mirror drive had a bad block.

I attempted this procedure with another 1TB hard drive with the same erroneous results; a bad block on the second drive.

I have been unable to build a mirror with either of the two drives. When I run CHKDSK it reports no bad sectors on either drive.

When each drive is defined as a basic disk or a dynamic disk, I am able to successfully build an NTFS file system and use the drive.

But, of course, this doesn't allow me to set up a MIRRORED VOLUME on my computer.

I do not believe that the hard drives are faulty since the same error occurred with different hardware (disk drives).

How can I successfully setup a MIRRORED VOLUME?
