Using the Upgrade version to install WIn7 on a XP PC.
When I used VIsta Upgrade version to install on a XP PC. Because XP was the Pro version which was not on the direct upgrade path,(in fact the upgrade proccess would not in start in XP Pro) I had install a differant way.(clean install)
XP is not on the direct path of doing a upgrade but MS has said WIn7 can be installed on a XP pc just had to be a clean install.
I have a feeling that installing WIn7 will be the same way I had to install Vista Home Premium on a XP Pro pc. Be warned tho the way I'm thinking can add fron 1 hr to 3 hr's before Win7 is installed.

Clean install recomendation procedure
by: Mike, Tampabay, FL

There has been allot of talk about installing Windows 7 from XP as an upgrade. As I have read numerous blogs, articles and rss feeds about this subject, I haven't seen anyone post (for the newbies) how to install a clean fresh copy from scratch.

Here's How:
I used a program called "Killdisk" to erase the entire XP OS from my C: drive before installing Windows 7. Search for Killdisk on Google, There's a free version available. Very easy to use with detailed instruction. You will need to download Killdisk, then create an ISO. After burning the ISO, Make sure to backup any files on your pc as Killdisk will completely erase any data on your C: drive (or what ever drive your using).
After backing up your files, insert the Killdisk ISO you created and reboot your PC, Follow the onscreen instructions. You may run the 0 pass erase utility as many times as you want. The more times you run the 0 pass erase utility, recommended passes = 5 to 7 times. After that, not even the FBI could find traces of a program ever existing on your drive.
When you finish with Killdisk. Exit the program, remove the cd, insert your new copy of Windows 7, install and enjoy!
