Did you buy Windows 7 and try to install it on both your father's laptop and your own? Unless it was a family pack, you can't install it on two computers. You must purchase a second licence.

If you did actually buy two licenses and one of them isn't working, try this contact information. Perhaps they will be able to point you in the right direction.
