Its my opinion that my acer is the worst computer I have ever had.
Acer's support is one of the poorest I have used.

Several days after buying the computer new from acer I had to re install the full system due to a problem with check disk.

Some weeks later after installing IE8 the finger print reader would only work at startup.Turns out it was a known bug by acer and I was told by acer, that they were developing a fix for it and in the meantime they suggested I uninstall IE8 & re install IE7, I emailed them back asking when they thought the fix would be ready, they never replied.

In the meantime whilst browsing acers support web looking for solutions I discovered I was entitled to a free upgrade of the operating system to Windows 7 which I had to pay approx £13 p&p.

Whilst waiting for the new OS to be shipped a fault developed with the sound system (distortion)which worsened sometimes and at the same time the mouse pointer would jump around of its own accord.

I eventually received Windows 7 and decided to do a clean install due to the problems I was having.

I duly installed the new OS, and the updated drivers obtained from acer support site/supplied disc, out of all the applications pre installed by acer factory only one was available for Win7.

Im back at the support site because the problems on my computer are worse, the screen freezes now and again playing games and videos.

I was really cheesed of when I came across a statement on he acer site regarding OS support, Acer can only support OS shipped with the computer.

I cant repeat here what my view of acer was after reading that.

I have managed to solve the sound problems after weeks of searching different sites and uninstalling almost all of the drivers supplied by acer and obtained, in some cases newer versions, in other cases same versions, but all drivers are from orriginal venders i.e. Nvidia-Realtek etc.

My conclusion is I will never buy another Acer be it computer or anything else.

Ps The screen still occasionally freezes playing video.
