Windows 7 System Requirements

We are waiting to find out what the system requirements are for Windows 7.

While Microsoft has not officially announced any system requirements, we have some information from Microsoft developers indicating which direction they are heading in…

Chris Flores from the Windows Vista Team Blog said:

“One of our design goals for Windows 7 is that it will run on the recommended hardware we specified for Windows Vista and that the applications and devices that work with Windows Vista will be compatible with Windows 7.”

In the meantime, the most recent information indicates that this may be the system requirements of Windows 7:

  • 1GHz processor (32- or 64-bit)
  • 1GB of main memory
  • 16GB of available disk space
  • Support for DX9 graphics with 128MB of memory (for the Aero interface)
  • A DVD-R/W drive

Most of the PCs right now should have the specifications above.
