Windows 7: XPS Viewer

Windows 7 XPS Viewer

An XPS document is any file that is saved to the XML Paper Specification or .xps file format.

Although you can create XPS documents (.xps files) by using any program that you can print from in Windows, you can view XPS documents only by using the XPS Viewer.

Windows 7 comes with an XPS viewer.

Clicking on an XPS document opens it automatically in the XPS Viewer. There are several options for viewing and managing XPS documents in the XPS Viewer, and these include the following:
  • Save a copy of an XPS document to your computer
  • Print a copy of an XPS document
  • View document information such as author or date of creation
  • Choose the size you wish to view the document at
  • Search the document for a word or phrase
  • Digitally sign an XPS document
  • Zoom in and out to make text and pictures easier to read
  • Deciding who can access the document and for how long by applying document permissions
  • View and outline of the document
