Windows 7: Desktop Background

Windows 7 enables you to easily customize the background of your desktop.

Accessible from the Control Panel, or by right-clicking on the desktop itself, the personalization panel enables you to set and change your Windows 7 desktop background.

 

In this panel, you can set your desktop to be a solid color, a pattern, a user-defined picture, a theme selected from the panel, or even a video if you so desire.

Themes are related pictures which can be set to change at user selected intervals as in a slide show. More themes are available from the Microsoft site as well as from third-party sites and other developers.

By choosing a picture location, for example, the My Pictures folder, the user can shuffle pictures to their desktop at the desired intervals. This selection can then be saved as a user-defined theme.
