Windows 7 Default Programs
Here you can set your default programs and associate file types with programs.
A default program is the program used by Windows when you open a particular type of file, such as a word processor file, music file, an image, or a webpage.
If for example you have more than one photo
editing program installed on your computer, you can choose
one of them to be the default application for opening
graphics files.
The default programs panel is accessed from the Programs
panel, which is accessed from the Control Panel.
In the Default Programs screen, you can:
-
Set your default programs: Here is where you make a program the default for the file types and protocols it can open.
-
Associate a file type with a program: With this option you can make a file type or a protocol (such as .wav or https://) always open with a specific program
-
Change AutoPlay settings: This option enables your system play DVD’s and other media automatically, as soon as they are inserted into the computer.
-
Set default programs for this computer: Here the user is able to control access to certain programs. They can also set defaults for their computer.
