Free Software and cash...
The
good folks at
Uniblue software have given me 5 free licenses for their
software RegistryBooster 2010 to pass on to you guys and
gals. This software will deep scan your registry to identify
problems and errors that can cause instability and
slowdowns. RegistryBooster will then repair or remove
harmful registry entries to optimize your PC for better
performance.
I decided to spice it up and give away $25 dollars with every license as well. The rules and regulations for this competition are available at this link Windows News and Updates.
Head on over and get yourself some free software...
Office 2010 Review

Great Office 2010 review from PC World: Everyone is still reeling from the recession, and cash is tight--not, perhaps, the best time for Microsoft to launch a new version of its ubiquitous Office productivity suite. Nevertheless, with Office 2010, Microsoft continues to refine the dramatic overhaul that it began with the 2007 editions, while adding a few nifty new features with marquee appeal--all at prices much lower than we saw for similar Office 2007 packages.
The most immediately visible innovation in the new suite is a set of Web-based applications--online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote--slated to appear on Windows Live when the desktop editions ship in June. For businesses that wish to host their own Office Web Apps privately, Microsoft will also offer SharePoint versions of the online suite.

Advanced Windows 7 configuration
A
site called Black Viper have released their Windows 7
Service Configurations Guide where they give you advanced
tips on how to tweak system services. To tweak the settings
of a service, you will have have to type "services.msc" in
start search and hit Enter. This will open up Services.
Double clicking on any particular services opens up its
Properties box. This gives one information about this
service, its dependencies and way to start/stop or change
its status from Automatic to Manual or Disabled. Before
adjusting your service settings, ensure that your system has
already installed all updates by “checking now” for any
available updates via Windows Update. Before screwing around
with services, better create a System Restore point.
Tweaking Services is meant for advanced user only. Handle
with care..

Cloud Computing Website
I
have a passion for new technology. To that end, I tend to
create websites that reflect that love for exciting new
products. We have started a shift away from applications
that live on our desktops to new applications. These new
applications are installed in datacenters (often located
thousands of miles away from you) and you get to run these
applications from a browser wherever you are.
That in a nutshell is cloud computing. Let's discuss.
Check out my new site, the Cloud Computing Zone.
Registering a new hard drive
Windows
Search regularly checks all registered hard drives on your
computer indexing their contents. This is an automatic
function but if you add an external hard drive or partition
a hard drive, you need to register it with Windows 7. Once
you do this, you can allow Windows 7 to index its contents.
Let us look at how to register a newly partitioned hard drive, Drive D.
Troubleshooting Windows Search

So, you are finding that Search is not working very well. Maybe it’s time to give it a tune-up. Now this is where another of Windows 7’s useful Problem Solvers can help.
- Click the Start button.
- In the Search box, type “search problem”.
- Search offers a problem solver called “Find and fix problems with Windows Search”
- Click “Find and fix problems with Windows Search” and the Troubleshooter opens.
- In the Troubleshooter window, click Advanced.
