UPDATE 4-8-2010 - I returned the Ipad and they charged me a 10% restocking fee. That's $60 for trying and returning an Ipad!

Buyer beware! Caveat Emptor! What a frikkin racket! Make sure that you think hard about it before you even try this item.

So I rushed out and got the 32 gig Ipad and brought it back home.

I played with it for the first day and thought it was really cool.

I won't bore you with the standard review so I'll point out what I like briefly.

1. Really sharp resolution (obvious).
2. Scrabble and Soccer games work great.
3. Wi-Fi browsing is fantastic on Safari.
4. IBook and Kindle applications work great - reading is beautiful.
5. Marvel comic book application is amazing. This is the future of comic books for sure.
6. Google email/Calendar and Contact integration is great.

Now, there is no multitasking which is atrocious.

I haven't really noticed the absence of Flash that much but I haven't had it that long.

It has no microphone and front facing camera which I think was really stupid.

It's really cool and my biggest critique of this thing is that I'm simply not sure it's worth it at $659.41.

At $199, it's a no brainer.

I work on a computer all day long and have an Android phone that works for me. I also plan to get the HTC Evo 4G when it comes out (unless Apple can match that phone's specs on Verizon or some other carrier).

The real question for me is, with a really awesome phone that has great battery life, 4g speed, a wide screen and all the apps, why exactly would I need this device?

If Apple comes out with an awesome 4g Iphone that can match the Evo, this would further complicate the issue and make us ask, why do we need an Ipad again?

I plan to play with it a little more and have my wife travel with it and try it out for a couple of weeks.

If it doesn't justify it's existence, it's back to the Apple store for a refund.

If you can't write off technology costs on your taxes or dont need to be on the cutting edge, I would tell you to stay on the sidelines for the next 6 months and see how this all shakes out.

There are a slate of new phones and tablets hitting the market and you might want to wait and see what makes the most sense for your money.

I can tell you that as of today, I CAN DEFINITELY LIVE WITHOUT THIS DEVICE and sometimes, i forget I even have it.
