What's on Onuora Amobi's Windows 7 PC
I
have been getting a lot of questions about Windows 7
(obviously) but more recently, I got a bunch of emails from
site visitors asking what tools I used on my PC at home.
To that end, I thought it might be fun to go through my computer and tell you what tools I use on a daily basis.
First of all, my PC is a HP 8200n Media Center.
It's an older PC but it has served me well. It has a 64 bit Athlon processor, 8gigs of ram and I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (Signature Edition).
Like I said, it's a little older but the PC specs can be found here.
Now, what do I have on my PC and run day to day? Here goes...
Internet Explorer 8, Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera. I use all the browsers to validate that pages look good or not.

Microsoft Office 2010: I have been using Office 2010 pro since the day the beta was announced and I absolutely love it. They refined the ribbon approach and PowerPoint 2010 is a dream to use. Office 2010 Beta Site
FrontPage: I actually don't use Dreamweaver that much. I end up using FrontPage a lot more for building and editing pages like this one. Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003
Adobe Photoshop: The big cahuna for processing photographs and images. I use mainly for PSD (their proprietary image format) manipulation. Adobe Photoshop CS4
Adobe Fireworks: I actually use this a lot more than Photoshop. It's easier for quick resizing and compression of pictures. Adobe Fireworks CS4
Adobe Acrobat Pro: When you need to make PDF's and convert files into and from the PDF format. Adobe Acrobat Professional 9
FlashFXP: My favorite FTP client, I have been using this forever. Great interface and easy to use. FlashFXP
Download Accelerator Plus (DAP): When you have to download a whole bunch of files at once or several files on a page at once, there is no better and more reliable downloader. Download Accelerator Plus
ESET Nod 32: After going through a bunch of antivirus packages, Nod has turned out to be the one that works best and most discreetly for me. ESET NOD32 Antivirus Home Edition
Apple ITunes: When you have to listen to music, this is the way to go... ITunes
Skype: I use this to primarily do free video conferences with family in New Jersey and the occasional phone call with vendors. Skype
AnyDVD: Only when I need to make copies of DVD's or HD Blu-rays that I legally have a right to. AnyDVD
Jpeg Imager: I love this tool! I quote from the page description: An interactive image compressor primarily designed for 'Quality versus File Size' optimization. Magic ISO: MagicISO is a powerful CD/DVD image file creating/editing/extracting tool. It can open / create / edit /extract CD/DVD image files, and it can convert bin to iso and back as well as make ISO files from DVD/CD-ROM or hard disk, and handle bootable information. Magic ISO
